Syfte och frågeställningar

Det övergripande syftet med denna studie är att undersöka arbetsmiljön i yrket som lärare i ämnet idrott och hälsa. Studien utgår från följande frågeställningar:

·         Hur beskriver lärarna arbetet i ämnet idrott och hälsa?

·         Hur påverkas den psykiska hälsan när man arbetar som lärare i idrott och hälsa?

·         Hur arbetar skolorna för att främja en god arbetsmiljö?

Metod

Studien använder en kvalitativ metod och innehåller fyra intervjuer med lärare i idrott och hälsa på gymnasiet och en intervju med en rektor från en gymnasieskola. Intervjudeltagarna fick besvara frågor angående hur de trivs på sitt arbete, hur deras skola arbetar för att främja den psykiska och mentala hälsan för lärare samt hur de själva ser på eventuellt arbete som kan bidra till en främjande psykisk och mental hälsa hos lärare.

Resultat

Resultatet av studiens intervjuer visade att lärarna trivs med sin yrkesroll och att de känner en meningsfullhet i sin roll som lärare. De flesta lärarna poängterar att den positiva relationen med kollegorna på skolan bidrar till att de trivs med sitt arbete. De flesta lärarna upplever att det är för mycket administrativt arbete med dokumentation kring sådant som inte rör den egna undervisningen. En del lärare menar att man bör använda sig mer av utvärderingsmaterial för att synliggöra eventuell negativ psykisk och mental hälsa. Andra lärare menar att man bör skära ner på det administrativa arbetet och anställa personal som tar hand om sådant som inte handlar om lärarens egen undervisning.

Slutsats

De slutsatser man kan dra av den här studien är dels att lärarna trivs med sin yrkesroll som lärare i ämnet idrott och hälsa, vilket kan kopplas till begreppet KASAM. En slutsats man också kan göra är att det är tidskrävande för lärarna med dokumentationsarbetet som gäller anpassad studiegång men också vad gäller planering och bedömning. Detta dokumentationsarbete kan i flera fall framkalla stress hos lärarna. En annan slutsats från den här studien är att fler frågor kring lärarnas fysiska arbete kunde ha ställts för att få en ännu bättre syn över arbetsmiljön för en lärare som undervisar i ämnet idrott och hälsa

Aim

The overall aim of this study is to examine the work environment in the profession as a teacher in the subject of physical education and health. The study is based on the following questions:

• How do teachers describe the work in the subject of physical education and health?

• How is mental health affected when working as a physical education teacher?

• How do schools work to promote a good working environment?

Method

The study uses a qualitative method and includes four interviews with physical education and health teachers at upper secondary school and one interview with a principal from an upper secondary school. The participants in the interview answered questions about how they enjoy their work, how their school works to promote mental health of teachers and how they themselves view possible work that can contribute to the promotion of mental health among teachers.

Results

The results of the study interviews showed that the teachers enjoy their professional role and that they feel a sense of purpose in their role as teachers. Most teachers point out that the positive relationship with colleagues at the school contributes to their enjoyment of their work. Most teachers feel that there is too much administrative work with documentation of things that do not concern their own teaching. Some teachers believe that more use should be made of evaluation materials to highlight any negative mental health. Other teachers believe that administrative work should be cut back, and staff should be hired to take care of things that are not related to the teacher's own teaching.

Conclusion

The conclusions that can be drawn from this study are partly that the teachers enjoy their professional role as teachers in the subject of physical education and health, which can be linked to the concept of KASAM. One conclusion that can also be made is that it is time-consuming for the teachers with the documentation work that concerns adapted study paths, but also in terms of planning and assessment. This documentation work can in several cases cause stress for teachers. Another conclusion from this study is that more questions about teachers' physical work could have been asked to get an even better view of the work environment for a teacher who teaches the subject of physical education and health.
