Sammanfattning

Syfte och frågeställningar

Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur lärares bakgrund och erfarenheter inverkar på deras undervisning i ämnet specialidrott. Våra frågeställningar är följande: Vilken idrottslig och akademisk bakgrund och erfarenhet har lärarna i ämnet specialidrott? Hur motiverar studiens specialidrottslärare sina val av undervisningsinnehåll? Hur arbetar lärare i specialidrott med kursplanerna och det centrala innehållet?

Metod

I studien användes kvalitativa intervjuer. Fem lärare i ämnet specialidrott har intervjuats, varav tre är utbildade lärare. Studiens deltagare är aktiva på nationellt godkända idrottsutbildningar med inriktning lagidrotter. Respondenterna valdes ut strategiskt då lärare/tränare som är verksamma i Stockholm kontaktades. Bekvämlighetsprincipen togs också i beaktning på grund av begränsade resurser och tidsaspekten. Vidare har deltagare också tillkommit via ett snöbollsurval då tidsaspekten tagits i beaktning. Pierre Bourdieus kultursociologiska teori ligger till grund för studiens teoretiska utgångspunkt.

Resultat

Resultatet pekar på att respondenterna strävar efter att utgå från kursplanerna när de motiverar och planerar sin undervisning, samtidigt upplevs dokumenten som komplicerade och svårtolkade att applicera. Vidare visar resultatet att deltagarna har en gedigen idrottsbakgrund i form av eget utövande samt ledarerfarenhet på hög nationell nivå.

Slutsats

Utifrån studiens resultat och diskussion framgår att ämnet specialidrott inte har tydliga riktlinjer för hur undervisningen skall bedrivas, vilket kan bero på en svag akademisk inramning. Studien visar att det förekommer en kamp inom fältet specialidrott kring hur verksamheten ska bedrivas. Idag har två olika aktörer skilda målsättningar inom specialidrotten. Vidare visar resultatet på att det symboliska kapitalet, i form av utbildning, har en inverkan på hur ämnet utformas. Att inneha en lärarutbildning visar sig ha betydelse för att kunna tolka och förstå ämnets kursplaner.

Abstract

Aim

The study aims to examine how teachers background and experiences affect their teaching in special sports. Our questions are: What kind of sport and academic background and experience does the teachers have in special sports? How do teachers in special sports motivate their choices of teaching content? How do teachers use the curriculum and the core content in special sports?

Method

Qualitative interviews were used in the study. Five teachers in special physical sports were interviewed, three of whom are educated teachers. The studies participants are active in the nationally approved sports programs targeting team sports. The respondents were chosen strategically as teachers/trainers who are active in Stockholm was contacted. The principle of convenience was taken into consideration because of limited resources and the lack of time. Furthermore, some participants also came through a snowball selection when the time factor was taken into consideration. Pierre Bourdieus socio-cultural theory is underpinning the theoretical basis of the study.

Results

The results indicate that the respondents aspire to assume curricula when they justify and plan their teaching, at the same time the documents are experienced as complex and difficult to interpret and to apply. Furthermore, the result shows that the participants have a solid background in sports as private pursuit and management experience at a high national level.

Conclusions

Based on the results and discussion of the study it’s clear that the subject special sports don't have clear guidelines on how the teaching should be conducted, which may be due to a weak academic setting. The study shows that there is a battle in the field of special sports around how the education is conducted. Today there is two different players with different objectives in special sports. Furthermore, the result shows that the symbolic capital, in the form of education has an impact on how the subject is designed. Possession of a teacher education is found to be important to be able to interpret and understand the subjects curricula.
