Syfte och frågeställningar

Denna studies syfte var att analysera den svenska skolans läroplaner under perioden 1962–2022, där vi mer specifikt avsåg att analysera vad som uttrycks om eleven som en funktionell samhällsmedborgare inom ämnet idrott och hälsa: Vilka centrala begrepp och värdeord används i läroplanerna över tid? Vilka egenskaper, utöver fysiska förmågor, lyfts fram i kursplanen ämnet idrott och hälsa? Utmärks utformningen av kursplanen i idrott och hälsa av kontinuitet eller förändring över tid?

Teori och metod

Användandet av en diskursanalys ser vi både som teori och metod för vår studie. Då det finns en mängd olika diskurser har vi valt att använda oss av kritisk diskursanalys kopplat till Faircloughs analysmodells tre olika nivåer. En kvalitativ metod lämpar sig för att skapa förståelse för komplexa processer, och tolkandet av nya läro- och kursplaner är en sådan process då den genomgår många steg och en mängd instanser innan den slutligen ska tolkas av läraren i klassrummet eller idrottshallen.

Resultat

De begrepp och värdeord som används inom ämnet idrott och hälsa har varierat över tid. Begreppet fostran var ett ledande begrepp i Lgr 62 men försvann redan till nästa revidering av läroplanen. De förmågor som har premierats genom ämnet kan kopplas till den sociala diskursen, den moraliserande diskursen, riskdiskursen och hygiendiskursen. Den enda diskursen som fortfarande har ett likvärdigt innehåll är riskdiskursen. Diskursen som kan kopplas till hygien försvann i och med Lpo 94. Läroplanens skrivningar präglas av förändring och nya begrepp framkommer med varje revision.

Slutsatser

Kravet på samhällsmedborgaren har förändrats över tid och de förmågor som tidigare har premierats är inte längre av samma vikt. Sociala egenskaper, estetiska rörelser och en god hygien har bytts ut mot aspekter kopplade till att uppnå och bibehålla en god hälsa. Det innebär att ämnets karaktär är förändrad och att ämnet inte längre fyller samma samhällsfunktion.

Aim and research questions

The aim of this study is to analyze Swedish school curriculums during the period 1962–2022, where we more specifically intend to analyze what is expressed about the pupil as a functional citizen of society within the subject of physical education and health. The study aims to answer the following research questions: Which central concepts and values are used in the curricula over time? Aside from physical abilities, which characteristics are prominent in the syllabus for the subject of physical education and health? Is the design of the curriculum of physical education and health characterized by continuity or alteration over time?

Theory and method

We view the application of a discourse analysis as both the theory and method of our study. As there are a variety of discourses, we have chosen to apply critical discourse analysis linked to the three levels of Fairclough's analysis model. A qualitative method is considered suitable for creating an understanding of complex processes, and the interpretation of new curricula and courses is deemed such a process as it goes through many steps and a multitude of instances before it is finally interpreted by the teacher in the classroom or sports facility.

Results

The concepts and values motivating physical education have varied over time. The concept of fostering was a leading concept within the Lgr 62 curriculum, but disappeared with the subsequent revision. The abilities that have been sustained through the subject can be linked to the social discourse, the moralizing discourse, the risk discourse and the hygiene discourse. The only discourse whose content still has an equivalent is the risk discourse. The discourse that can be connected to hygiene disappeared with the Lpo 94 curriculum. The writings of the curriculum are characterized by change and new concepts emerge with each revision.

Conclusions

The demands placed upon citizens have changed over time and the abilities that have previously been sustained are no longer of the same importance. Social skills, movement aesthetics and proper hygiene have been replaced by aspects linked to achieving and maintaining adequate health. It follows that the characteristics of the subject have changed, and that the subject no longer holds the same societal function
